Introduction
This section offers you a comprehensive guide to successful interviewing. The activities that occur before, during and after the interview are all examined individually. The information and examples provided will assist you in making hiring choices that fully support your vision, mission and goals.
It has been developed as a resource for anyone who is invited to serve on a selection committee, whether a novice or veteran in the process.
This section will assist you most if you have already:
- set a strategic direction for your departmental recruiting activities (see Section 1.1 and 2.1)
- forecast your short-and long-term staffing requirements (see Section 1.1 and 2.1)
- determined what type of position or appointment you require (see Section 1.1 and 2.1)
- reviewed how to use behavioural descriptions in the staffing and selection process (see Section 3.1 Step 5)
- familiarized yourself with the specific hiring procedures for the employee group in which your vacancy falls (see Section 2.1)
