Preparations
Prior to the new employee commencing employment, preparation should be made for the employee’s “first day on the job”, including a training and orientation plan . (See Orienting New Staff)
Orientation
The University of Saskatchewan and Human Resources consider employee retention an important complement to the recruitment process.
Effectively orienting new employees to the University and to their positions is critical to establishing successful, productive, and long-lasting working relationships.
Therefore, once hired, staff require appropriate orientation to the University.
- Orientation is a shared responsibility between Human Resources and the hiring department.
- See the checklist for hiring units (currently being developed).
