Associate Professor, Field Service Dairy Emphasis
The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position in Field Service.
The successful candidate will participate in the delivery of clinical service in all disciplines in food animal practice with an emphasis on dairy practice. Responsibilities will include the supervision of senior veterinary students assigned to the field service rotation. Clinical duties will be assigned by the Department Head within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. After hours emergency duties will be shared with other Field Service clinicians. Development of an active research and graduate student program in areas related to dairy practice is expected.
Candidates must have a DVM (or equivalent) degree and be eligible to practice in the Province of Saskatchewan. Applicants must have completed post-graduate training. Board certification in an appropriate discipline is desirable and will be required for tenure. Familiarity with dairy practice and the dairy industry is essential.
Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience. This position is available May 1, 2010.

The Department of Native Studies invites applications for the position of Head of Department at the rank of either senior Associate or Full Professor.
The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent), he/she will be an established senior academic in Native Studies, or an allied field, with an established teaching and publication record, a proven ability to obtain research grants, and an international scholarly reputation.
She/he will be expected to have university related administrative experience such as department/program head, chair of academic committees, or management of resources. She/he will work with and lead a dynamic faculty complement of seven Aboriginal scholars in expanding the departmental graduate and research program as well as relate to a wide range of university and Aboriginal community interests.
Located in a province with a large and diverse Aboriginal population, the Department of Native Studies was established in 1983 and is now one of the most active departments in Canada. In 2006-07, a total of 2,205 students were registered in on and off-campus Native Studies undergraduate courses. Since 1989 the graduate program has experienced steady growth now with a full complement of faculty this program is poised to expand.

Department of Geography - Assistant Professor in Planning
The Department of Geography & Planning at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a tenure track position in planning at the rank of Assistant Professor effective July 1, 2009.
The Department of Geography & Planning offers degrees at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels in human and physical geography and a Bachelor of Arts in Regional & Urban Planning (RUP), an interdisciplinary program that began in 1968 and is professionally accredited by the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Association of Professional Community Planners of Saskatchewan. Three new faculty members have been added to a strong cadre of senior professors in the past few years to teach in the RUP and human geography programs, and the successful applicant will be expected to make important contributions here as well. While much of the RUP curriculum is offered within the Department of Geography & Planning, one of its strengths is that it includes fundamental courses in disciplines such as Economics, Political Studies, and Sociology. Students also have the opportunity to take courses from professional affiliates who work as senior planners and planning managers in the community. It is an important and exciting time to be teaching planning in Saskatchewan and the RUP program enjoys a good relationship with practitioners and alumni throughout the province and further afield.
Applicants must have, or be eligible and willing to apply for, full CIP membership, and must hold a doctorate in Planning or Geography. This position will be offered to a scholar who can build upon one of the two areas of research and teaching strength in planning and human geography, namely, ‘Sustainable Cities & Regions’ and ‘Environment & Health’. Preference will also be given to applicants with research or applied work experience in urban land-use planning, growth management, urban design, planning law, or ecological principles applied to urban planning and development. The term ‘urban’ here refers to cities or towns and can include a regional focus.
The position includes responsibilities for undergraduate and graduate student teaching and supervision. A successful applicant will be expected to develop a strong research program supported by peer-reviewed funding from sources external to the university (e.g. SSHRC, CIHR).

Besides its commitment to traditional literary historical periods and national literatures, the Department of English has particular teaching and research interests in the histories of orality and textuality; editorial practice; textual constructions of health, illness and the body; gender and sexuality theory; and Aboriginal and Postcolonial studies. ACADEMIC HEMATOPATHOLOGIST
The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the Saskatoon Health Region and the University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a full-time, academic tenure-track Hematopathologist position.
The Division of Hematopathology includes three full-time and two part-time members and is responsible for the full range of diagnostic work including routine hematology, solid tissue diagnostics, transfusion, coagulation, flow cytometry and molecular and cytogenetics. The Division is involved in a growing consultation service for the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. The Hematopathology division has a strong proven and continuing research productivity record and contributions to the education mission of the institution.
Applicants must be MD, certified by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent in Hematologic Pathology and must be eligible for registration with The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will have excellent skills in diagnostic hematopathology, strong track record and or interests in academics (clinical or translational research and/or teaching). The academic rank will be determined by the qualifications, previous academic performance and experience of the candidate.
The successful candidate will have shared clinical service and teaching (both undergraduate and postgraduate) responsibilities with other divisional members. The candidate will have an opportunity to focus her/his clinical responsibilities in specific areas of Hematopathology as long as the overall divisional needs are met; for example, there is an opportunity to focus in the areas of transfusion medicine, coagulation or solid tissue hematopathology. The candidates must establish and pursue a program of research relevant to blood disorders. Excellent startup funds to establish a research program are available.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in pharmacoepidemiology, health quality improvement, health policy and health management or societal perspectives of drug use, although all areas of social and administrative pharmacy or related areas will be considered.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an active research program, to attract external funding, and complement the research activities of faculty in the College. Responsibilities include teaching in the area of social and administrative pharmacy in the undergraduate program and the supervision of graduate students. The School supports a variety of initiatives related to inter-professional education in undergraduate and graduate education such as the new Masters in Public Health. Faculty members are currently working with colleagues from a wide range of disciplines in a number of recently formed Health Research Groups in collaborative research on aging, rheumatology, cognitive impairments, and movement disorders.

The College of Dentistry invites applications from qualified individuals for a faculty position in Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery. The College is implementing an active program of curriculum renewal, faculty renewal, and research intensification. This position is a key part of that process. Responsibilities and duties include didactic and clinical instruction of undergraduate students in Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery, an ongoing research commitment, and College administration. The applicant must have relevant postgraduate and clinical qualifications at the FRCD(C) or equivalent level and research experience. Possession of an advanced degree is desirable. The ideal candidate will be from a CDA/ADA-approved Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery residency program with significant experience in dentoalveolar and orthognathic surgery, TMD, anaesthesia, implantology, pathology and trauma management. On site private practice privileges are available. The Royal University Hospital and College of Medicine are adjacent to the College of Dentistry and the successful candidate is expected to become involved with programs and initiatives in these institutions. OCCUPATIONAL HYGIENE FACULTY POSITION
Applications are invited for a full-time, tenure track position in Occupational Hygiene at the Canadian Centre for Health and Safety in Agriculture (CCHSA), University of Saskatchewan. The position is offered at the Assistant Professor level. The academic appointment will be in the Division of Agricultural and Occupational Medicine, Department of Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will have a PhD degree with at least one degree in the Occupational Hygiene specialty. The successful candidate is expected to conduct an independent scientific research program. The applicant will be willing to participate in and ultimately lead a multi-disciplinary research team in terms relating to Occupational Hygiene. Experience in rural, environmental, or agricultural occupational hygiene will be considered assets. The applicant will be expected to establish a three credit graduate class in Occupational Hygiene at the University of Saskatchewan.

Faculty Position
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology, College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, invites applications for a tenure track faculty position as an Assistant Professor in the discipline of bacterial physiology/genetics. We are interested in an outstanding individual who will pursue a vigorous research program. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent, postdoctoral research experience, demonstrated research ability and have an interest in undergraduate and graduate education. We are seeking an individual with expertise in bacterial physiology/genetics, with interests in gene or protein function in the context of bacterial physiology/pathogenesis and/or of host-pathogen interactions.
The successful applicant will have a broad range of interactive possibilities on campus with scientists in cognate departments and colleges, including the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization, the Toxicology Centre, Saskatchewan Structural Sciences Centre, and the synchrotron facility (Canadian Light Source), plus a number of national and provincial research institutes. There is an active research park adjacent to campus dedicated to the commercialization of innovation. A state of the art BSL3 and ABSL3 core facility (INTERVAC) is under construction along with extensive renovation and expansion of the Academic Health Sciences Complex.
The department offers vigorous undergraduate and graduate programs. Its members are involved in basic and translational research and are members of various campus-wide research groups, including the Molecular Design Research Group.

Tenure-Track Position
The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, Western College of Veterinary Medicine, is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Emergency and Critical Care beginning July 1, 2009. The level of appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate. The successful candidate must have a D.V.M. or equivalent degree, be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the Province of Saskatchewan, and should be a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, or eligible for board certification with ACVECC. Possession of an advanced degree is desirable.
Teaching duties will be didactic and clinical instruction in Emergency and Critical Care, and related disciplines to undergraduate students, Interns, Residents and graduate students. Service activities include the management of patients and consultation in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and administrative activities. The candidate will be expected to pursue research consistent with the goals of the Department and College. Department of Psychology – Clinical Psychology
Applications are being accepted for a tenure-track position in clinical psychology at the Assistant Professor rank, effective July 1, 2010.
Applicants with research and applied interests in any area of clinical psychology are invited to apply, but preference will be given to applicants with a focus in health (broadly defined as mental or physical health), especially health issues with respect to children. We are committed to hiring outstanding scientist-practitioners who can make significant contributions to the research and teaching missions of the department, who are committed to interdisciplinarity, and who can forge productive links with other areas of graduate programming in the department (i.e., Basic Behavioural Science, Culture and Human Development, Applied Social Psychology). Requirements for the positions include: Ph.D. (complete or near completion) in clinical psychology, a strong research record, evidence of effectiveness in teaching and supervision, completion of an internship in an accredited or equivalent setting, and eligibility for registration as a psychologist in Saskatchewan.
The Department’s doctoral program in clinical psychology is a well-established scientist-practitioner program that is fully accredited by the Canadian and American Psychological Associations. The Department has 25 full-time faculty members, and 4 affiliate members from St. Thomas More College. There are over 75 graduate students completing an MA or PhD across the four graduate programs.
