Current Studies Recruiting Participants

The Integrative Clinical Exercise Physiology research lab is currently seeking individuals, ages 18-45, that have either been diagnosed with asthma or have not been diagnosed with a lung disease and are otherwise healthy.  The study consists of six days of testing over 6 weeks aimed at examining the nature of breathing limitations.

The purpose of this study is to consider the role that asthma may play in exercise breathing limitation. Asthmatics have more breathing limitations than their peers when performing the traditional constant work rate exercise.  By reducing these limitations with the use of new high intensity interval exercise protocol, we aim to study the relative effects on exercise performance across both exercise protocols. The study will involve assessment of normal lung function and exercise tests on a cycle ergometer.
