Anti-virus software helps the campus fight virus threats, protects the network, desktops and even remote desktop and laptop computers from the latest viruses. Protecting your computer means that you can lower the risk of attacks and threats.
The university has licensed System Center Endpoint Protection for use on university-owned computers. Installation guides are available:
- Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection - Windows
- Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection - Mac
For personally-owned computers, there are a number of free anti-virus software products that are available for your use.
- Windows - We recommend the use of the free Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus software. See the Microsoft Security Essentials webpage for more information and to download the software.
- Mac - We recommend the use of the free, Sophos-provided anti-virus software for use on Mac computers. See the Sophos Antivirus for Mac webpage for more information and to download the software. Note: This is different from the version previously provided by the university.
