SCEP Installation Guide for Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1

NOTES:

  • System Center Endpoint Protection is licensed only for University of Saskatchewan-owned computers

  • This will not install on Windows 10. We recommend using Windows Defender as it can be managed by your local IT.

For further assistance installing or using System Center Endpoint Protection, please contact the ICT Service Desk.

  1. Uninstall any other Antivirus Software already installed on your computer
  2. Download the installer from https://winweb.usask.ca/sitelicensed/staff_only/download.asp?file=scepinstall_uofs.exe using your NSID and password.

NOTE: If you get a 500 - Internal server error after typing in your NSID and password, click the circular arrow icon in your web browser's address bar to reload the page and the file will start downloading:

  1. Double click the SCEPInstall_UofS.exe file

  2. Click Yes when prompted Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?

  3. Click Next

  4. Click I accept

  5. Select one of the options (Join or I do not want to join) then click Next.

  6. Check the box for If no firewall is turned on, turn on Windows Firewall (Recommended) then click Next.

  7. Click Install.

  8. When the install is completed, click Finish.

  9. Open System Center Endpoint Protection from your list of programs, then go to the Update tab and ensure it says Up to date. If it does not say Up to date, click  Update.

  10. Click the Settings Tab and select Scheduled scan.

  11. Set the following options for a scheduled scan:
    • Check the box for Run a scheduled scan on my PC (recommended)
    • Scan: Full Scan
    • When: Daily
    • Around: Select a time the computer will be on, but not heavily used (i.e. lunch or break time)
    • Click Save changes

  12. Click Yes when asked Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?
