What the Technology Assessment Team does

The Technology Assessment Group takes an all-inclusive approach to technology assessments of potential purchases. We assess proposals for concerns in 3 main areas: compliance, business continuity, and organizational fit.  We offer recommendations to address concerns using both contractual (vendor) controls and operational (U of S) support requirements and can help you negotiate vendor service agreements. By having your project flow through this review process, you will be confident whatever solution you decide on:

  • will work with the other technologies at the university
  • meet organizational and operational requirements
  • be compliant with all security, privacy and data standards
  • is priced appropriately for the service, and
  • any additional considerations have been addressed.

Our assessment process

Typically, our assessment process follows a standard review sequence. This can be altered based on the scale of the review and when the Technology Assessment Group is brought into the purchasing decision. Early engagement with the Technology Assessment Group will deliver the best outcomes and a more efficient process.  We are ready to assist you right from the initiation stage of your project.
