E-mail - Set-up Guide Outlook 2003/07

NOTE: If your account was migrated to Office365, you will need to use the guides on

1. Close Outlook 2003/2007 if already open and add Exchange account via the “Mail”applet in Control Panel. (Press Start, then press Control Panel)


2. Click on Email Accounts and proceed to configure Exchange account:


3. Click on New under the Email tab:


4. Select "Add a new e-mail account:


5. Select Microsoft Exchange Server:


6.  Type in the following information:

  • For Microsoft Exchange Server:
  • check Use Cached Exchange Mode
  • for User name: your NSID (i.e. abc123)


7. Press the More Settings button.

8. Make sure Automatically detect connection state is selected under the General Tab:


9. Under Security Tab, make sure Encryption is checked:


10. Under Connection Tab:

  • make sure Connect using my Local Area Network (LAN) is selected
  • make sure Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP is checked


  • Press the Exchange Proxy Settings button

11.  Make sure that:

  • the URL to connect is:
  • connect using SSL only is checked
  • mutually authenticate the session is checked
  • proxy server is:
  • the two boxes for fast and slow networks to connect using TCP/IP are checked
  • proxy authentication is set to: NTLM Authentication


  • press OK

12. Done.
