Email - Set-up Guide Outlook 2013

NOTE: If your account was migrated to Office365, you will need to use the guides on

Step 1: Open Outlook 2013

Start->All Programs->Office 2013->Outlook 2013 for Windows 7 and below; or, for Windows 8, press the Windows Key on your Keyboard (to open the Start Menu) then start typing Outlook 2013.

Step 2: Depending on whether you have an email account setup in Outlook already, or not, you will see either:

(A) If you have not used Outlook before, you will see the welcome wizard:


  • Click Next

  • Select YES for Do you want to set up Outlook to connect to an email account?



 (B) If you have another email account setup in Outlook already, Outlook will open that account.

  • To add a new account, click File

  • Click Add Account

Step 3: Fill in the below information:

  • Your Name: Your First and Last Name (i.e. Jane Doe)

  • Email address: (i.e.

  • Password: Your NSID password

  • Retype Password: Your NSID password

Step 4: Click Next.


Step 5: You will see a security prompt asking to allow to configure your account. 

Do the following:

  • Check the box to not ask about this website again

  • Click Allow


Step 6: When prompted for password, click Use another account:


Step 7:

  • For username type in: (i.e.

  • For password type in: your NSID password

  •  Click OK

Step 8: Click Finish once your account is done configuring:


Step 9: Close and reopen Outlook 2013.

NOTE: If this is the first time you have setup Outlook, you will see a prompt asking for update settings.  Select Use recommended settings, then click Accept:
