Restore Deleted Files

All files on Jade are backed up on a nightly basis and are available for retrieval for up to six weeks.

If you are using a Macintosh or Linux device, contact your local IT support staff or the ICT Service Desk for assistance in restoring your files.

If you are using a Windows device you can access all previous versions backed up in the last six weeks:

Restoring Files from Windows

  1. Map a drive to Jade (See the Getting Started section).
  2. Click the Start icon at the bottom left of your screen and then the Computer link.

  3. Right-click on the Jade mapped drive and select the Restore Previous Versions button to open the previous versions window.

  4. Select the date of the previous version of your folder that you wish to restore and click the Open button. *If you do not see the date you want to restore, please contact the ICT Service Desk.

  5. Once you have clicked the Open button, an Explorer window will open with the date and time you are restoring from. Browse through your folders and files to locate the files or folders you wish to restore.

  6. Select the files or folders you wish to restore. Right-Click and choose the Copy link.

  7. Switch back to the Explorer window showing your mapped drive to Cabinet.
  8. Browse to the folder where you want to locate your restored files.
  9. Right-Click and choose the Paste link.

  10. Your data has now been restored.
