Voicemail

You can access voicemail through your email which enables you to receive messages anytime and from anywhere.

Getting Started


Listen to Messages

From your Email

A copy of new voicemail messages are sent to your usask.ca email address. Each voicemail will appear as a separate message and is a WAV sound file attachment.

  1. Use ViewMail in the email message to play the voicemail through your computer or desk phone
    • Open your message from your usask.ca email inbox.
    • Use the audio controls to play your message and record a reply

  2. Play the attached sound file on your computer.
On your Desk Phone
  1. Press the Messages button on your desk phone.
  2. Follow the menu prompts.
On the Web
  1. Navigate to the Cisco Personal Communications Assistant at voicemail.usask.ca.
  2. Login with your NSID.
  3. Choose the Web Inbox.
  4. Play your messages through your computer or desk phone.
From another 966 Line
  1. Dial the last four digits of your phone number.
  2. Wait for voicemail to answer.
  3. Press the * key.
  4. When prompted for your ID enter your four digit phone number (i.e. 1234) followed by the # key.
  5. When prompted enter your phone password followed by the # key.

Or

  1. Dial 1188.
  2. Wait for voicemail to answer.
  3. Press the * key
  4. When prompted for your ID enter your four digit phone number (i.e. 1234) followed by the # key.
  5. When prompted enter your phone password followed by the # key.

To log out of your mailbox, press the * key to exit until you hear the system say “goodbye.”

From an Outside Line
  1. Dial your phone number.
  2. Wait for voicemail to answer.
  3. Press the * key.
  4. When prompted for your ID enter your four digit phone number (i.e. 1234) followed by the # key.
  5. When prompted enter your phone password followed by the # key.

Or

  1. Dial 306-966-1188.
  2. Wait for voicemail to answer.
  3. Press the * key.
  4. When prompted for your ID enter your four digit phone number (i.e. 1234) followed by the # key.
  5. When prompted enter your phone password followed by the # key.

To log out of your mailbox, press the * key to exit until you hear the system say "goodbye."

Cisco Personal Communications Assistant

The Cisco Personal Communications Assistant allows you to customize your voicemail account, including changing your PIN and recording greetings using the Messaging Assistant, and using the Web Inbox to listen to and manage your messages over the web.

Messaging Assistant

The Messaging Assistant allows you to change your PIN, manage or record greetings, configure settings for the voicemail voice menus or playback messages.

Change your Voicemail PIN
  1. Launch the Cisco Personal Communications Assistant.
  2. Log in using your NSID as your username and your NSID password.

  3. Click the Messaging Assistant link.

  4. Click on the Passwords tab.
  5. Select the Change PIN link from the drop-down menu.

  6. Enter your new PIN (six or more digits, and not one of the previous five PINs used) in the two fields.
  7. Click the Save button.

Record and Manage your Greetings
  1. Launch the Cisco Personal Communications Assistant.
  2. Log in using your NSID as your username and your NSID password.

  3. Click the Messaging Assistant link.
  4. Click on the Greetings tab.
  5. Select the View Greetings link from the drop-down menu.

  6. Click on the name of the greeting you wish to record or change.
    • You can set a time during which this particular greeting will be enabled.
    • To record a greeting, click the radio button beside the My personal recording option, and choose which method you wish to use for recording your greeting.
    • Click the red dot on the controls to begin recording, and the blue square to end your recording.

Web Inbox

The Web Inbox allows you to listen and manage your messages online from wherever you have an internet connection.

  1. Launch the Cisco Personal Communications Assistant.
  2. Log in using your NSID as your username and your NSID password.
  3. Click the Web Inbox link.

  4. In your voicemail inbox, click on the play button at the right of a message to listen to a message.
  5. In the lower right of the inbox window you can select either your deskphone or computer as the method to listen to the message.
  6. You can also reply to a message or create a new message.
