Moving & Renaming

Other tasks related to moving and renaming:


Page

Moving and/or renaming a page without un-publishing first may result in broken links and orphan pages:

  • may still be accessible through search results
  • will remain available to anybody that has it bookmarked, or is linking to it from another website

To avoid this and any other issues please un-publish the page first.

If the page has been moved and/or renamed but you haven't un-published it check the recycle bin to see if you can restore it. For help with restoring items see the instructions for using the Recycle Bin. Once it's restored, publish the page, then un-publish, then move and/or rename it.

If you're not able to restore the page please email cascade_support@usask.ca to have it removed from the web server.

    1. Drag and drop the page into the desired location
    2. Click Submit

  1. The page should now be moved to the folder selected in step 2.

Renaming a page

Note that renaming a page does not change the text that appears in the navigation (menu). To do that you'll need to edit the display name field.

  1. On the page to be renamed click the Move/Rename tab
  2. Enter the new System Name (without the extension)
    As the System Name becomes part of the URL follow the naming convention for your site. At a minimum keep your system names alphanumeric; use lowercase letters, and don't use spaces, commas, periods, or any other characters.
  3. Click Submit

Document

Moving and/or renaming a document without un-publishing first may result in broken links and outdated documents:

Image

Moving or renaming an may impact pages that display it. To avoid this please un-publish the image first. This is especially important for Feature and Basic images displayed on your homepage.

      1. Drag and drop the image into the desired location
      2. Click Submit

Folder

Moving and/or renaming a folder without un-publishing could:

      • affect navigation;
      • mean search results return outdated documents, images and/or pages;
      • affect people that have an asset bookmarked, or are linking to it from another website;

To avoid this and any other issues please un-publish the folder first.

If the folder has been moved and/or renamed but you haven't un-published it check the recycle bin to see if you can restore it. For help with restoring items see the instructions for using the Recycle Bin. Once it's restored, publish the folder, then un-publish, then move and/or rename it.

If you're not able to restore the folder email cascade_support@usask.ca to have it removed from the web server.
