News

The news option is included in the default Cascade templates. When your site is first created the news option will be de-activated by default. You can choose to activate or de-activate it any time.

Integration with WordPress is available and addressed on a case-by-case basis. For more information please email cascade_support@usask.ca

  • If you would like to change where your News appears in the navigation (menu) please email cascade_support@usask.ca

To activate the news on your website:

  1. Select the news folder and click the Edit tab
  2. Select "Yes" for the Show in navigation options
  3. Click Submit

To de-activate the news on your website:

Note: de-activating (turning off) the news option may affect your homepage. After de-activation, you'll also need to make sure the news feed on your homepage is turned off.

  1. Select the news folder and click the Edit tab
  2. Select "No" for the Show in navigation options
  3. Un-check the checkboxes for Publish and Index
  4. Click Submit

Troubleshooting tips


  • News articles not showing up on the website:
    • Make sure the start date of the article is not set for a future date
    • Wait for the scheduled publish job to complete. If you're not sure whether your news has scheduled publishing, or when it's scheduled to publish next email casade_support@usask.ca
    • If you manually publish your news articles make sure you've published:
      • the article
      • the news homepage
      • applicable category page(s)
  • News articles not showing up in the news feed on your homepage:
    • Make sure the start date of the article is not set for a future date
    • Make sure that the news homepage and the article have both been published. To check - go to your website and make sure the article is listed on the news homepage
    • If you have chosen to display images with the news feed
      • Make sure there is an image attached to the article, and that it's attached using the file chooser (not in the WYSIWYG)
