Publishing & Un-publishing

In order to see any changes reflected on your website those changes must be published from Cascade to the web server.

  • Publishing - to put an asset on the the web server. An asset needs to be on the web server in order for it to be displayed on your website.
  • Un-publishing - means to remove the asset from the web server. Un-publishing an asset is not the same as deleting, and it's preferable option since it doesn't necessarily remove the asset from Cascade.

Publish or un-publish:

Note that publishing and/or un-publishing can affect links like: internal links, links to documents, and posted images, so please see the instructions below for each asset type.


Page

Publish

  • If you're publishing just content changes on a page that's already on your website you just need to publish the page
  • If the page doesn't already exist on your website, you'll need to publish the parent (section) folder 
  1. Select the page that you want to publish.
  2. Click the Publish tab.
  3. Click the Submit button.

Un-publish

  • When un-publishing a page you'll need to remember to publish other pages that link to it. If they aren't published you'll end up with broken links.
  1. Select the page that you want to un-publish.
  2. Click the Publish tab.
  3. Click the Submit button.

Unpublish


Document

Publish

  1. Select the page or folder that you want to publish.
  2. Click the Publish tab.
  3. Click the Submit button.

Un-publish

  • When un-publishing a document you'll need to remember to publish any pages that link to it. If they aren't published you'll end up with broken links.
  1. Select the page that you want to un-publish.
  2. Click the Publish tab.
  3. Click the Submit button.

Publish

  1. Select the image that you want to publish.
  2. Click the Publish tab.
  3. Click the Submit button.

Un-publish

  • When un-publishing a image, you should publish any page(s) that had the image embedded on it.
    1. Select the page that you want to un-publish.
    2. Click the Publish tab.
    3. Click the Submit button.

    Folder

    Publish

    1. Select the folder that you want to publish.
    2. Click the Publish tab.
    3. Click the Submit button.

    Un-publish

    Remember that un-publishing a folder will un-publish all of it's children so use caution when un-publishing folders.

    • Un-publishing a section folder - you'll need to publish the parent folder that it was removed from.
    • Un-publishing a regular folder (for example the 'documents' folder) - you'll need to publish any page(s) that linked to any of the child assets in order to avoid broken links.
    1. Select the page that you want to un-publish.
    2. Click the Publish tab.
    3. Click the Submit button.
