Environmental Management Field School
ESPE
The International Office hosted a group of graduate students from ESPE University in Quito, Ecuador for a one-week field school in July, on environmental management. The students enjoyed their experience!  They had a lecture from the School of Environment and Sustainability, complete with a campus tour of our sustainable practices. The group also went to Beaver Creek Conservation Area, visited the Community Gardens and Farmers' Market, toured Wanuskewin Heritage Park, and had several other presentations on sustainable practices including a talk by Howard Wheater, Director of the U of S Global Institute for Water Security. The Field School finished off with a relaxing dinner cruise on the Saskatoon Prairie Lily, meandering through the city on the scenic South Saskatchewan River!
Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarships Program
University of Saskatchewan researchers received over $400,000 for their project “Community Partnership for Food Security and Health”.  Adil Nazarali (Pharmacy and Nutrition) and co-investigators Claire Card (Veterinary Medicine), Carol Henry (Pharmacy and Nutrition), Bruce Reeder (Medicine), and Ryan Meili (Medicine) will collaborate on this unique international exchange program between U of S and its partner in Uganda, which connects students with community and industry while providing leadership development and campus engagement opportunities.  The project partners are Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda, the Foundation for AIDS Orphaned Children, and Veterinarians without Borders.
QES students
*Five U of S students have now gone to Mbarara for a three month internship.  They learned a lot and had a great time.  Check out their blog for all the details!
