Developing international agreements
International collaborative activities are often done under the umbrella of a linking agreement which is signed by the collaborating parties. These agreements signal a mutual will by the parties involved to work together, and help structure the activities by outlining each party’s responsibilities. Bilateral funding opportunities often require agreements to be in place as do some institutions before they proceed with collaborative activities.
The following diagram illustrates the process of developing international agreements.

Please note that this is only a guideline. The contents of each agreement is determined case by case basis by the parties involved.
Renewal of Existing Agreements
Six months prior to the expiry of an existing university wide agreement, International Office will contact the parties involved at University of Saskatchewan and discuss the possibility of renewal. If renewal is desired, International Office will contact the collaborating institution and negotiate a new agreement. This renewal agreement must undergo the due diligence and signing process.
