Planning Parameters for Second Integrated Plan Finalized

January 30, 2009

Planning Parameters are documents that outline expectations for each college and major administrative unit regarding specific initiatives, and goals related to enrolment, research and scholarship, program or service innovation and resources over the second planning cycle from 2008/09 to 2011/12. These documents are the primary link between the university’s Second Integrated Plan pdf document and individual college and unit plans, and show areas of overlap between activities of colleges and units and the 20 Commitments.

Planning Parameters should be read in the context of current issues facing the university, including the current economic situation and changing demographics which may affect enrollment. Colleges and units are encouraged to prudently consider expenses and financial commitments. The university is closely monitoring the economic situation and developing a series of financial scenarios for the Board of Governors. It is also refining an enrollment action plan. Recognizing the competitive nature of the post-secondary environment, the university will continue to pursue its innovation and academic priorities.

The Planning Parameters contain:

For example, College X should have 435 undergraduate students enrolled in the 2011/12 academic year.

Statistical data were provided by central university systems and all targets are based on the best available institutional data. The Provost will meet with colleges and units annually as part of the integrated planning initiative and will discuss the Planning Parameters at the midpoint in the second planning cycle.
