interprofessional Problem-Based Learning Program

Problem-based Learning (PBL) is a popular pedagogical approach whereby students, working in small groups with a facilitator, work through the issues posed by a case. Independent research by students between sessions is an essential element of PBL. These PBL modules were specifically designed to help students explore the bio-psycho-social aspects of care and to learn about the role that each discipline plays in providing care.

This is a large interprofessional PBL program involving seven different health and human science professional programs, between 750 - 800 students, and three separate iPBL modules (HIV/AIDS, Palliative Care, and Aboriginal Culture and Health) consisting of two or three sessions of 2-3 hours each over the academic year 2008-2009.

The iPBL Program is a continuation of the MPBL projects started and expanded within the P-CITE funding timeframe.
