Mission and Vision
The Interprofessional Health Collaborative of Saskatchewan (IHCS) is the proposed successor entity to the previous Patient-Centred Interprofessional Team Experiences (P-CITE) initiative.
The rationale for sustaining interprofessional education through a proposed successor entity to P-CITE was explored in the P-CITE Sustainability Strategy Report, which concluded that:
Once funding ends on March 31, 2008, IPE in Saskatchewan will be more likely to be sustained or promoted if some of these collaborative actions or ‘next steps’ are implemented in both educational and practice settings. While some P-CITE projects will continue in part or in whole, the emerging network of IPE stakeholders, the South Saskatchewan IPE Committee, will also be instrumental in strengthening and reinforcing IPE goals in the province. In addition, the Saskatchewan Academic Health Sciences Network and the Interprofessional Health Sciences Office at the University of Saskatchewan are collaboratively working on actions to provide centralized support, administration and coordination to sustain the gains made in IPE in Saskatchewan.
At this early stage, the mission and vision of the proposed IHCS are not developed. The content of both of these will be inspired by people, organizations and initiatives, locally, regionally, and nation-wide, which continue to build the momentum for interprofessional education, practice, and policy.

The
Saskatchewan Academic Health Sciences Network (SAHSN) has agreed to provide resources for the facilitation and coordination of continued activities for interprofessional education, practice, and policy. The
SAHSN Interprofessional Resource Officer will coordinate the creation of a provincial steering committee which will plan and develop a robust organizational and governance structure for the proposed Interprofessional Health Collaborative of Saskatchewan.
-
The
Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative CHIC will be instrumental in connecting the proposed IHCS to a national network. CIHC promotes continued development of IPE initiatives, provides advice in the formation of robust partnerships on interprofessional education, practice, and policy, and plays a pivotal role in disseminating information about IPE across Canada.

Finally, P-CITE’s original project goals and objectives will provide the basis for the future vision and mission of IHCS:
P-CITE PROJECT GOAL:
The goal of the P-CITE program is to improve the health of communities, families and individuals across the province through engagement of communities and academic institutions in implementing and evaluating interprofessional teams for patient centered health care.
P-CITE PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
- Develop innovative interprofessional patient-centered education programs and settings and evaluate their benefits.
- Stimulate spread of best approaches to interprofessional patient-centered education.
- Increase health professionals' exposure to interprofessional patient-centered education.
