FAQs - Open CourseWare
1. What is Open CourseWare (OCW)?
U of S Open CourseWare (http://ocw.usask.ca) - allows instructors of currently offered or recently offered courses to share course materials with anyone, anywhere using U of S Course Tools.2. How do I make my course syllabus public?
There is no "Permit Guests" option within the dropdown list from the chevron next to the Syllabus menu item by default.
To set this option:
1. Go to Course Management
2. Control Panel
3. Customization
4. Guest and Observer Access, and set “Allow Guests” to “Yes”.
Note, this won’t actually share any of your course content; you have to click "Permit guests" next to a content item.
5. Go to Syllabus link in left menu > Select the chevron > Permit Guests
3. Whenever I see "Permit Guests", my Syllabus is hidden but when I see "Deny Guests" my syllabus is public. It seems backwards.
In Blackboard, this is a toggle button. So, if it says "Permit Guests" it means you have to click it to make it open to guests. Similarly, If you see the option for "Deny guests" in the menu, it means you have the option available to click it; it does not mean that the access is currently denied.4. I had material up on OCW a couple years ago but it's gone now. Where did it go?
Open CourseWare only shows links to current or recently offered classes.
