ICT provides study and work group collaboration services which are used by groups of students, researchers, instructors and administrators to produce work such as class group assignments, reports, grant applications or presentations. The two collaboration services summarized below are addressed as well from the perspective of creating webpages to distribute information online in the Webpages, Blogs & Wikis section of the ICT service pages.
It is becoming increasingly important to the University to collect, update, store and archive electronic documents in a secure manner. The ability to distribute documents to the correct people and route them through defined work processes (for example, for review, feedback or approval) is also key. Currently, many people are using e-mail attachments to distribute documents, which leads to difficulty in locating the most recently updated copies of the documents and in consolidating updates made by more than one person. They need a better way to ensure that authorized people can locate documents easily, edit the most recent version, revert to a previous version if necessary, and implement their work processes.
For groups working with electronic documents, tracking documents over time and / or implementing work flows, ICT is pleased to introduce the SharePoint 2010 Service at the University of Saskatchewan as of fall 2011.
