The University of Saskatchewan provides a number of services to support e-learning on campus. ITS provides a number of e-learning services. In addition, some colleges and units provide e-learning services.
Services
My Courses is an electronic classroom environment that allows you to access course
materials online; submit assignments electronically, see your assignment marks,
receive announcements from your instructor(s), communicate with
instructor(s) and others in class through online chat, or email; maintain a course specific calendar, and more.
Blackboard Learn is a course management system for distance education and face to face courses that can be used to distribute course materials, communicate with students, help organize students, facilitate student group work, deliver online quizzes and exams and manage student marks.
Clickers are an instant feedback tool that can be used in a classroom setting to poll a group of students or perform an assessment of the understanding the group has about some topic.
Technology used for quizzes, examinations and final grade entry can facilitate teaching by making it easier for instructors to deliver and grade assessments. When IT is used for quizzes and examinations it can also provide immediate feedback to students.
ITS provides tools to help with course evaluations and to gather student comments on courses, both throughout and at the end of term. Instructors can easily gather anonymous student feedback during courses and make changes to their course delivery as needed.
Exam & Survey OMR Scanning technology can be used for exam processing, student evaluations and data collection using bubble sheets to collect information and compile results.
The U of S offers several conferencing tools for e-learning and administration including web conferencing, videoconferencing and teleconferencing.
