This set-up guide will use information for Alpha Charlie as an example. Alpha Charlie has abc123@mail.usask.ca as an e-mail address and has alpha.charlie@usask.ca as an e-mail alias.

Please Note: An e-mail alias (e.g. firstname.lastname@usask.ca) is used when setting up Entourage 2008. If you have not already created an e-mail alias for your nsid@mail.usask.ca e-mail address, please login to mits.usask.ca to create one. (How to setup guide)

• Open Entourage 2008 (Running Entourage for the first time will automatically start Entourage Setup Assistant.)

• Select "Start using Entourage without importing anything." (Figure 1)  

• Click on right arrow button to continue.

• Fill in the "E-mail address:" field is the address that shows as the "from" address when you send mail. Enter your e-mail alias instead of your NSID address. (Figure 2)  

• Click the right arrow button to continue.

• An "Automatic Configuration Failed" message will pop-up, please ignore the message, click on the right arrow button to continue. (Figure 3.)

• The "Account ID:" should be filled in your NSID (abc123 username). (Figure 4) 

• Enter your account password. 

• Un-Check the box "Save password in Mac OS X Keychain." Important note: if this option is checked any person using your computer will have access to your e-mail account.

•  Type in the following:
  • For "Incoming mail server:" enter mail.usask.ca in the field.
  • For "Incoming mail server type:" select "IMAP".
  • For "Outgoing mail server:" enter smtp.usask.ca in the field.
  • Click the right arrow button to continue.

• Please click on "Skip" button for verifying your account setting. (Figure 6)

• Open Entourage program, select the Tools menu and choose "Accounts..." (Figure 8)

•  Accounts window pops up, please double click on your account. (Figure 9)

• Click "Click here for advanced receiving options" button. (Figure 10)

• Check the box for "This IMAP service requires a secure connection (SSL)"

•  Check the box for "Override default IMAP port: 993." (Figure 11)

• Click " Click here for advanced sending options" button. (Figure 10)

• Check the box for "SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL). (Figure 12)

• Check the box for "Override default SMTP port:"

• Ensure the port number is 587.

• Check the box for "SMTP server requires authentication"

• Choose "Log on using"

• Please enter abc123 in the Account ID.

•  Click "OK" button.

•  Entourage 2008 E-mail set up is complete.
