In order to accomodate the large number of mailboxes on the U of S Email Service, the migration is being staged over many months. Depending on your role within the University community, your mailbox may be scheduled for a bulk migration or you may be eligible to select a date for your mailbox to be migrated.
Employees are eligible to self-select a migration date starting December 12th, 2011. Go to MITS and click on the Migration link to select your migration date. Once you have selected a migration date, your old U of S Email mailbox and your PAWS calendar and address books will automatically be migrated to your new U of S Email and Calendar mailbox sometime between 1AM and 7AM on the evening that you have selected (technically, it will be migrated in the early morning of the day after :). Sorry, no migrations will be scheduled between December 22nd and January 2nd... migrations will resume January 3rd, 2012. Nightly migrations will not be allowed during scheduled maintenance including: March 14th, Aprli 11th, and May 9th.
The last date for self-selecting your migration will be May 24th, 2012. All remaining employee mailboxes will be bulk migrated on the weekend of May 25th to 27th, 2012. Retiree and Professor Emeriti mailboxes will also be migrated during this bulk migration. Dentistry and Medicine students will also be migrated during this bulk migration. Any remaining functional nsids and non-employee mailboxes will also be migrated during this bulk migration. This will be the final migration. No mailboxes will be left on the old mail service after this migration.
The earlier you migrate, the sooner you can take advantage of the great new features of the new U of S Email and Calendar service!
Some Colleges and Departments have chosen to migrate all of their employees over one or more evenings in order to provide post-migration support.
Alumni mailboxes will all be migrated in a bulk migration in Spring 2012. The date is yet to be determined. If you are an alumnus, your old U of S Email mailbox and your PAWS calendar and address books will automatically be migrated to your new U of S Email and Calendar mailbox during the bulk migration period.
Students mailboxes from all colleges except Dentistry and Medicine will be bulk migrated May 2nd to 4th, 2012. Dentistry and Medicine students will be migrated along with remaining employees, retirees, emeriti May 25th to 27th. If you are a student, your old U of S Email mailbox and your PAWS calendar and address books will automatically be migrated to your new U of S Email and Calendar mailbox sometime during the bulk migration period.
Note that if you hold more than one role on campus, your mailbox will be handled first as an employee if you hold that role, secondly, as a student if you hold that role, and thirdly as an alumnus. For example, if you are both a part-time employee and a full time student, your mailbox will be handled as an employee mailbox and it will not be migrated during the bulk migrations - you will need to self-select a migration date. Similarly, if you are an alumnus who is back taking classes, your mailbox will be migrated during the student bulk migration period not the Alumni bulk migration period.
