The Set-up for Outlook Express 6.0 is a two-part process.
Part 1: Initial Account Set up
Part 2: Modify E-mail Settings for Secure Access
Part 1: Initial Account Set up
1. Run the Outlook Express program. (Figure 1.)
(Running Outlook Express for the first time will automatically* start the Account Wizard.)

2. Enter in your full name in the "Display name:" field.
3. Click "Next."

4. Type in your full E-mail address.
5. Click "Next."

6. Set "My incoming mail server is a" to "IMAP" server. (Figure 4.)

7. Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: mail.usask.ca
8. Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: smtp.usask.ca
9. Click "Next."

10. Enter your NSID (e.g. abc123) in the "Account name:" field.
11. Enter in your e-mail password.
12. Uncheck the "Remember password" box.
For security reasons, it is recommended that you turn off the Remember password function by clicking the box to remove the check mark. This means that you will be prompted to enter your password when you connect. Please Note: if others do not have access to your computer, you can choose to leave this option on. It can be turned on at a later time if desired.
Ensure that Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is turned off. The box should not have a check mark in it.
13. Click "Next."

15. Outlook Express will automatically search your account for folders click "Yes." (Figure 8.)

16. Outlook Express will subscribe all e-mail folders automatically. When the list has finished being created, click "OK" to continue. (Figure 9.)

Part 2: Modify E-mail Settings for Secure Access
As shown below in Figure 1:
1. Click on the "Tools" pull-down menu.
2. Select "Accounts."

3. Make sure that the campus.usask.ca account is highlighted.
4. Click on the "Properties" button.

5. Click on the Tab called "Servers."
6. Check box the "My server requires authentication."
7. Click “Settings.”

8. Enter your NSID (e.g. abc123) in the "Account name:" field.
9. Enter in your e-mail password.
10. Click “OK.”

11. Click on the "Advanced" tab.
12. Under the Outgoing mail (SMTP): check the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" box. Please Note: Change "Port" to 587.
13. Under the Incoming mail (IMAP): check the "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" box.
14. Click "Apply."
15. Click "OK."
