This set-up guide for Windows Live Mail will use the name "Alpha Charlie" as the setup guide example. Alpha Charlie has abc123@campus.usask.ca as an email address and alpha.charlie@usask.ca as the e-mail alias.
Please Note: An e-mail alias (e.g. firstname.lastname@usask.ca) is created in mits.usask.ca and for this guide has been used in the Thunderbird setup. Instructions for creating an alias may be found here.
1. Add a new e-mail account:
Click Start >>All Programs>>Windows Live Mail
2. Windows Live Mail window will pop-up. Click “Accounts” and “Email". (Figure 1)

3. As shown below in Figure 2:
The "Email address:" field appears as the "from" address when sending email. Enter your email alias instead of your NSID address.
Enter your account password. Uncheck the box "Remember password."
Important note: If this option is checked any person using your computer will have access to your e-mail account.
Enter your name in the “Display name for your sent messages:” field.
Select “Manually configure server settings.”
Click “Next.”

4. As shown below in Figure 3:
The “Server type:” should be IMAP.
The “Server address:” should be campus.usask.ca for Incoming server.
Port “993” and select “Requires a secure connection (SSL) for Incoming server.
The “Authenticate using:” should be Clear text.
The “Logon user name:” should be your NSID (abc123).
The “Server address:” should be smtp.usask.ca for Outgoing server.
Port “587” for Outgoing server.
Select “Requires a secure connection (SSL)” and “Requires authentication.”
Click “Next.”
