If you have deleted a file and would like to restore it to the most recent backed-up version, or if you would like to return to an earlier version of a file, you can access all previous versions backed up in the past six weeks:

• Windows users can use the 'Previous Versions' tab (mapped drive required)
• Macintosh and Linux users can contact your local IT support staff or ICT Help Desk for assistance

Restoring Files from Windows

You can restore your files yourself using the 'Previous Versions' functionality in Windows.

1. Map a drive to Jade.

 

2. Click Start and then Computer.

 



 

3. Right-click on the Jade mapped drive and select Restore Previous Versions to open the Previous Versions window. (On Windows XP, select Properties and then select the Previous Versions tab)

    

   

 

4. Select the date of the previous version of your folder that you wish to restore from and click Open.

 



 

5. Once you have clicked the Open button, an Explorer window will open with the date and time you are restoring from. Browse through your folders and files to locate the files or folders you wish to restore.

 

 

6. Select the files or folders you wish to restore. Right-Click and choose Copy.

  

 

7. Switch back to the Explorer window showing your mapped drive to Jade. Browse to the folder where you want to locate your restored files. Right-Click and choose Paste.

  

 

8. Your data has been restored.

Note that you can open the previous version of a file and use copy and paste to recover a portion of a file if that's all you need to get back.
