Departments at the U of S can request Windows shares and Macintosh volumes on Jade to suit their needs. A department may have one Windows share and Macintosh volume under which all of the department's data can be stored. Subdirectories such as "admin," "projects," "common" and "staff" will be created in the departmental file storage space. In some cases, additional shares or volumes may be needed to grant access to departmental data from users outside of that department.
Authorized users of a share can access a Jade file share from their own computers by "mapping" or "mounting" a drive to Jade. This simple, one-time operation will give you immediate access to Jade every time you start up your computer and connect to the U of S network.
