Access to all file services requires an NSID (Network Services ID) and password.
There are several ways to access Cabinet from off campus:
Connect through PAWS using any Internet connection.
Files are stored on a server cluster that has built-in fail-safe systems and is upgraded on a monthly basis. This system helps to ensure reliable access to files 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, files are backed up nightly and are available for retrieval for up to six weeks.
All students, instructors, researchers, and employees receive an initial disk quota of 2 Gigabytes (GB) of storage space on Cabinet.
The maximum disk quota is 20 GB. To request a quota increase, contact your local IT support staff or the ITS Help Desk (email help.desk@usask.ca).
You can check your quota to see how much space you have available.
Files stored on Cabinet are scanned for viruses on a weekly basis. If a virus is found, the file is cleaned and a notice is sent to the owner of the file informing them that a virus was found and cleaned. If the file cannot be cleaned, the file is renamed and a message is sent to the owner indicating that the file is infected and that "INFECTED" has been added to the file name.
