Cisco Clean Access is a network security system that authenticates, authorizes, and evaluates wireless devices prior to allowing them onto the U of S wireless network. It automatically detects, isolates, and assists in the remediation of wireless devices that are vulnerable and do not comply with the U of S network's security policies.
The remediation process repairs vulnerabilities before permitting access to the University's network.
How Cisco Clean Access Works
Cisco Clean Access requires the installation of the Clean Access Agent on your laptop. It is installed as part of the wireless set-up process.
See the Wireless Set-up Guides for download and instructions. If you accidentally delete the agent from your laptop you will be prompted to download and install it the next time you attempt to connect to the U of S wireless network.
All wireless devices must go through the following steps before being connected to the network.
- User Authentication (every time you connect)
- Vulnerability Assessment (every time you connect)
Clean Access currently checks for the following mandatory software:
- Anti-virus Software Installed
- Current Microsoft Critical Updates Installed
- Remediation Using a Temporary Role (only if you are missing required software)
If you leave the University of Saskatchewan and no longer require the Clean Access Agent, you can remove the agent from your laptop.
