In addition to the main campus, the U of S has a number of satellite locations. Where possible ICT extends the University network to these locations. The network service provided to these off-campus facilities is as similar as possible to what is provided on campus.
A variety of technologies are used to provide these extensions depending on the individual requirements of each location. ICT currently uses the following technology:
- 802.11g and802.11a point-to-point links
- Wavecom point-to-multipoint wireless
- LANspan wired links
Additional technology, including WiMAX and others, may be incorporated as required for future needs.
Satellite locations that are currently provided extended network coverage include:
- Kernan Farms
- RadarSat
- Prairie Swine Centre
- Royal West Campus
- Geological Seismic Bunker
