Configuring "guest" Wireless for Windows Vista
The following wireless set-up instructions are for computers with the Vista operating system.
- Open the Control Panel from your Start Menu.
- Open the Network and Sharing Center.
- Under Tasks open the link called Manage wireless networks.
- Click "Add."
- For How do you want to add a network, select "Manually create a network profile."
- In Manually connect to a wireless network:
- In Network name enter: guest
- For Security type select "No authentication (Open)"
- Click "Next."
- Click "Close."
- Open up a web browser, such as Internet Explorer; you will be redirected to the U of S Wireless Access Authentication page.
Conference guests: please use your conference ID username and password.
Non-conference guests: please enter the following username and password:
Username: visitor
Password: visitor
Click Continue.
Please note: Wireless traffic is not protected on this network and may be seen by others. It is your responsibility to take steps to protect your information. Establish a VPN or enable other security measures as appropriate.
