Configuring "guest" Wireless for Windows Vista

The following wireless set-up instructions are for computers with the Vista operating system.

1. Open the Control Panel from your Start Menu.

 



 

2. Open the Network and Sharing Center.

 



 

3. Under Tasks open the link called Manage wireless networks.

 



 

4. Click "Add."

 



 

5. For How do you want to add a network, select "Manually create a network profile."

 



 

6. In Manually connect to a wireless network:

• In Network name enter: guest
• For Security type select "No authentication (Open)"
• Click "Next."

7. Click "Close."

 



 

 

8. Open up a web browser, such as Internet Explorer; you will be redirected to the U of S Wireless Access Authentication page.

          Conference guests: please use your conference ID username and password.

          Non-conference guests: please enter the following username and password:

               Username: visitor
               Password: visitor

          Click Continue. 

Please note: Wireless traffic is not protected on this network and may be seen by others. It is your responsibility to take steps to protect your information. Establish a VPN or enable other security measures as appropriate.
