Snow Leopard (10.6.x) and Lion (10.7.x) have the ability to use Cisco IPsec without installing any software. To setup Cisco VPN on a 10.6.x or 10.7.x computer do the following:
1. Click the Apple icon then select "System Preferences".

2. Click on "Network".

3. Click on the + button in bottom left corner.
NOTE: If settings are locked, click the Lock icon and enter your Mac's password to unlock them.

4. For "Interface", select "VPN" from the list.

5. For "VPN Type", select "Cisco IPSec".

6. For "Service Name", type in:
tunnel.usask.ca

7. Type in the following information:
For Server Address, type in: tunnel.usask.ca
For Account Name, type in your NSID
For Password, type in your NSID password

8. Click the "Authentication Settings" button.

9. Type in the following information then press OK:
a. For Shared Secret type in: uofs
b. For Group Name type in: uofs

10. Check the box for "Show VPN status in menu bar" then press "Apply".

11. To connect, Press the VPN icon in the Top Finder Menu and select "Connect tunnel.usask.ca".

12. It will show connecting

13. When prompted, enter your NSID password then press OK.

14. Once connected, the VPN Icon in top menu will show a timer for the amount of time you are connected.
