Employees at the U of S can request wireless guest access for an individual or conference.
- Log in to PAWS.
- Click on the Admin Services tab.
- Click on "Request wireless network access for guests" in the Wireless Guest Access channel. If you do not see the channel, you may add it to your layout in PAWS by clicking the "Content/Layout" link in the upper left corner.
A new window will open the wireless guest access request application. Once in the application, you will be able to request the following:
The "Individual Guest IDs" page is the default. If you wish to request a Conference Guest ID, you will need to click the link in the left menu.
Individual Guest IDs
When you have guests such as researchers or instructors visiting you, you can request access to the U of S wireless network on their behalf. They will be able to use their guest ID to access the wireless network for up to 14 days. This request process for guest access is only for access to the wireless network and does not provide full access to U of S services. If access to other U of S services is required, please contact the ICT Help Desk.
You can request up to eight to individual guest IDs in a 12 month period. To request an individual guest ID, complete the following steps.
- Click the Request Individual Guest IDs button.
- On the Request an Individual Guest ID page.
- The "Start Date" automatically defaults to the current day. This cannot be changed.
- Click the calendar icon for "End Date" and select the end date. Please note that the maximum duration of 14 days is the default end date.
- Enter the first name of the guest.
- Enter the last name of the guest.
- Enter the e-mail address of the guest.
- Enter the phone number of the guest.
- Click the Submit button.
- You will be taken to the "Individual Guest ID Request Details" page. This page contains the details of your request. The "Guest ID" (username) and "Password" for your guest will be displayed. Please print this page for your records.
- The "Password" for your guest is automatically generated and cannot be changed. If you forget the password you will have to submit a new request.
- You will receive a confirmation e-mail at your NSID@mail.usask.ca account with the ID and Password for your guest. If you entered the e-mail address of your guest they will also receive a confirmation e-mail.
Conference Guest IDs
When organizing a conference, you can request access to the U of S wireless network for conference attendees during their visit. They will be able to use their guest ID to access the wireless network for up to 14 days. This request process for guest access is only for access to the wireless network and does not provide full access to U of S services. If access to other U of S services is required, please contact the ICT Help Desk.
Request Conference Guest IDs
You can request up to two conference guest IDs in a 12 month period. To request a conference guest ID, complete the following steps.
- Click "Conference Guest IDs" in the left menu.
- Click the Request Conference Guest IDs button.
- Enter the name of the sponsor for the conference.
- The "Requestor E-mail" automatically defaults to your NSID@mail.usask.ca.
- Click the calendar icon for "Start Date" and select the start date. Please note the maximum duration for a conference guest ID is 14 days.
- Click the calendar icon for "End Date" and select the end date. The default end date is 14 days after the start date selected.
- Enter the "Conference Name."
- Enter the "Intended Location of Wireless Use." Click the "see wireless map" link to open a new window with information about wireless access points available on campus. Enter the name of the building(s) or general location that will be used as the primary location for the conference.
- Select the "ID Type"
- Single ID. This is one ID name that will be shared by all members of the conference.
- Enter the "Number of Expected Attendees."
- Click the Submit Conference Guest ID Request button.
- You will be asked to provide a username and password. If you provide a username and password, you will need to click the Submit button. If you do not provide a username and password one will be provided to you in the form of an NSID upon approval.
- Multi-ID. This is an ID that is automatically generated for each individual attendee.
- Enter the "Number of Expected Attendees."
- Click the Submit Conference Guest ID Request button.
After your request has been approved you may print your conference details.
- Click "Conference Guest IDs" in the left menu.
- In the table, click the name of the conference whose details you want to see.
- On the "Conference Details" page click the Print button.
Edit Conference Requests
You can only edit conference requests that have a status of "Pending Consideration" or "Pending Info." Only certain portions of the conference request can be edited.
- Click "Conference Guest IDs" in the left menu.
- In the table, click the name of the conference you want to edit.
- On the "Conference Details" page, click the Edit Conference Request Details button.
- Make the desired changes.
- Click the Save Changes button.
Delete Conference Requests
You can only delete conference requests that have a status of "Pending Consideration." Conferences that have already been approved cannot be deleted.
- Click "Conference Guest IDs" in the left menu.
- In the table, click the Delete button at the end of the row for the conference you want to delete.
