Campus Print Accounting System (CPAS) is a campus-wide initiative implemented in response to students' desire to have one convenient way to print, regardless of where they are printing on campus (Note: Commerce labs are not currently part of CPAS). There are laser printers available near, or within, all student computer labs on campus. There is a charge for printing, which is managed through CPAS.
The CPAS account is created for everyone automatically. This account is updated as you print. Printing charges will depend on whether or not you wish to print to a colour or black and white printer. Printing charges are $0.10 per page for black and white printers and $0.25 per page for colour printers.
Money collected through CPAS is used to recover the cost of providing the printing service. This includes replacing old printers, purchasing toner and paper, maintaining the printers (through a maintenance contract), and updating the print accounting software used to authenticate users and bill print jobs. The current printing charges are designed to cover all these expenses. For every $0.10, $0.01 goes to the central CPAS service to cover print server maintenance costs, $0.01 goes to the department that sold the pages to cover administration and maintenance, and $0.08 goes to the location where the pages are printed to cover, printer costs, toner, paper, etc. In addition, GST must be paid to the government.
Almost all student-accessible printers use CPAS. There are currently over 50 CPAS-enabled printers around the campus, and more are coming soon. Check with the college-based computer support staff in your college or department for full information. Public printers can be accessed by logging into a local lab or by connecting to the printer using your personal laptop and selecting a printer.
Funds can be added to your print account through a Student Information Terminal (SIT) (cash only), by going to the Place Riel Information kiosk or any Library circulation desk (cash, debit or credit).
The majority of CPAS printers are black and white however there are a few colour printers. See the printer location map for more information.
CPAS does not give refunds for unused credit in your account but you can transfer funds to another students account.
The CPAS channel in PAWS provides a detailed printing history of your printing activityy. Select "Details" at the bottom of the channel window to view this information.
