The Spatial Initiative group of the Office of the Vice President Research has been organised to provide a variety of GIS services to the campus. (This was previously named GIServices.) The services offered by The Spatial Initiative include:
The Spatial Initiative works closely with the Library and ICT. Its staff can be contacted via email at spatial@usask.ca.
The Data & GIS Library Services group of the University Library provides a number of GIS and digital map datasets as well as some assistance in getting access to the data.
The University of Saskatchewan has obtained an academic-use site license for GIS software from Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc (ESRI) . The site license provides researchers with access to GIS software for mapping and analysis from the leading developer. The site license is managed through ICT Research Computing Support.

If all that is required is a GIS viewing program, ESRI provides the free ArcGIS Explorer program.
The Geography Department offers credit courses that make use of GIS technologies.
