If you subscribe to the voicemail service, there are several ways to access your messages. You can access your messages from:
Voicemail access is protected by a phone password. If your phone password has expired, or you would like to change other voicemail settings, you may do so using the Cisco Personal Communications Assistant.
Some phone models have a messages button that can be used to access voicemail. Once you have accessed the voicemail system, follow the prompts to check your messages.
If your phone does not have a messages button, you will need to call the voicemail system.
Unity Connect Messaging - People with Integrated Messaging can access the Unity Voicemail system by dialing 966-1188 (or 1188 from a phone on the 966 exchange). When prompted enter your phone PIN followed by the # key.
You may access your voicemail from another "966" line.
Or
To log out of your mailbox, press the * key to exit until you hear the system say "goodbye."
You may access your voicemail from a phone that is not on the "966" exchange.
Or
To log out of your mailbox, press the * key to exit until you hear the system say "goodbye."
E-mail access to the voicemail system is also available but the method is different for those who are subscribed to the Exchange service on campus and those who are not.
For Exchange subscribers, e-mail access to voicemail is configured when the Exchange service is set up. Your voicemail will appear in the same inbox as your e-mail messages as a separate message with a WAV sound file attachment. If your voicemail messages do not appear in your Exchange inbox, contact ICT Telephone Services.
For those people who do not subscribe to Exchange services, in order to access your voicemail from your e-mail, you must configure your IMAP e-mail client. To configure your e-mail client yourself, create a new IMAP connection using the following settings:
|
Server |
Connection Type |
Encryption Type |
Authentication Type |
|
marathon.usask.ca |
IMAP |
SSL |
NSID |
Once configured, a new inbox, separate from your inbox for e-mail messages, will appear in your e-mail client. Each voicemail will appear as a separate message. The voicemail will be a WAV sound file attachment.
For assistance, contact your local IT help or the ICT Help Desk.
Cisco ViewMail is available for Unified Messaging. ViewMail enables easy listening to voicemail, including over the phone or audio speakers/headphones on your computer.
ViewMail provides the option to change play back devices for their voicemail messages; this includes having the computer play the message through the phone.

In addition, when forwarding a voicemail message from within your e-mail client, ViewMail provides the option to record an additional message that will be forwarded as well. You can record this message using your computer's microphone or the phone

ICT recommends that people with the Exchange service use the ViewMail software to play voicemail. Employees can download the ViewMail software or they can contact their local IT support. ViewMail requires Microsoft Outlook 2003 or later.
