The following tools are available to people at the University of Saskatchewan whose webpages are stored on an Apache web server. This includes homepage.usask.ca‚ www.usask.ca‚ library.usask.ca‚ engr.usask.ca and others.
These tools rely on features of the Apache web server. They may also be available in other web servers‚ but may not work exactly as described below. There are also General Tools that are not restricted to use on Apache servers.

This online course demonstrates many advanced Apache server features you can use to customize your webpages. To use Server-Side Includes‚ give your webpage a name ending in .php or add the following line to your .htaccess file:
AddHandler server-parsed.php
This online course explains how to use the ".htaccess" file to provide password protection to your webpages on Apache servers.
Your webpage can automatically display when it was last modified. Every time you change your document‚ this last modified message will automatically change. You do not have to remember to edit the date yourself each time. We recommend adding this at the bottom of the page. This only works on webpages located on an Apache web server.
CGI scripts are run using the CGIwrap software. More information is available for using cgi scripts for departmental webpages and individual pages.
PHP Scripts can be used in websites on the Apache server. To do so‚ give your webpage a name ending in .php or add the following line to an .htaccess file: AddType application/x-httpd-php.php
