To create a blog‚ first log in to the blog service. You need to use your NSID to login to the blog service. Once logged in‚ click on "Weblogs" in the right-hand menu and then select "Create new Weblog" on the right. Please read the weblog Terms of Use before creating a blog.
When you create your blog‚ you will be asked to enter a name for a "Weblog Folder." This must be one word‚ but can include underlines and dashes. This folder name will be used as the last part of the web address to access your blog. For example, if you used the folder name "my_thoughts" the web address for your blog would be http://blogs.usask.ca/my_thoughts/. Once you have created a blog you can customize the look.
Most blogs on this system are open to the general public. Anyone in the world can see what is posted in a public blog, but only people with a valid NSID can log in to create or post messages. If you require a private blog, contact blog_support@usask.ca.
You can create multiple blogs. You may want to have different blogs for different purposes. You may want to have one for your personal thoughts and another for your department announcements or class work. After you log into the blog system with your NSID, you can create several different blogs. Each blog has a quota of 100 MB per blog, with a maximum of 200 MB per person.
You can create a blog to share information with a class or group of people. When using this system for course-related blogs remember that by default blogs are open to the public; private blogs must be requested by contacting blog_support@usask.ca.
To log out of the blog service‚ you need to exit your browser. The Logout button no longer works.
In order to make Movable Type work with the U of S NSIDs‚ it was necessary to change the authentication process.
