As part of ICT's electronic communications strategy‚ webpage content management and webpage hosting services, blogs and wikis are provided as an effective means for the distribution of information. Departments‚ colleges‚ groups, many researchers and instructors use webpages to distribute information to their intended audience.
Services are also provided to students to help develop skills in webpage development and collaborating with their peers.
A centrally-supported WCMS (Web Content Management System) is available to maintain official U of S webpages. The WCMS assists in maintaining and updating web content to promote information that is accurate, relevant, current, consistent and appropriately shared among websites.
Webpage hosting is provided on two main servers. Both servers provide a similar suite of features.
Official U of S webpages‚ such as department or college webpages, are hosted on the www.usask.ca server. Eligibility for webpages on www.usask.ca is restricted to University‚ department‚ college and group information.
Individual webpages for members of the U of S community are hosted on the homepage.usask.ca server. All instructors‚ researchers‚ students and employees automatically receive space for individual webpages that will remain active while they maintain their respective status at the U of S.
Blogs can be hosted on U of S web servers.
The U of S wiki supports collaborative work among instructors, students and/or employees at the University of Saskatchewan.
General guidelines‚ general tools and Apache server tools are available to help you create websites. Information on resources‚ statistics‚ training and troubleshooting is also available to help you with webpage development.
