All University units are welcome and encouraged to use the WCMS to maintain their web content according to all policies relating to suitable content or use of University
resources.
All University employees, including instructors and administrators, as well as admitted or registered students are eligible to use this service for University of
Saskatchewan business.
A Unit may choose to contract with on-campus or off-campus webpage developers; ICT will create accounts for any off-campus suppliers (sharing of accounts and passwords is
not allowed).
Development
A basic out-of-the-box site is available for members of the University of Saskatchewan community. This site includes basic functionality and wizards based on the U of S WCMS web templates. Additional customization is not included.
Additional customization and advanced functionality is supported by the web content management system but requires programming by experienced programmers. Several options
include:
- Using in-house personnel
- Hiring Educational Media Access and Production (EMAP) for on-campus WCMS webpage development services. Visit http://www.emap.usask.ca for further information.
- Hiring off-campus webpage developers to provide webpage
development. ICT provides accounts, training and other support services
as previously noted. Sharing of accounts and passwords is not allowed;
see the Computer Use Policy at http://www.usask.ca/university_secretary/policies/operations/4_11.php.
Choosing an on- or off-campus supplier must meet U of S procurement policies.
Pricing
ICT provides Cascade accounts, access to samples and documentation, developer training Cascade and consulting for people who are to maintain U of S webpages free
of charge. The basic out-of-the-box site will also be set up free of charge.
The free service does not include creating, migrating or maintaining content within the WCMS. Creating, migrating or maintaining their websites and content according to
U of S web guidelines remains the unit's responsibility. In-house personnel, EMAP or off-campus suppliers are options
for these activities.
