Nobel-2006 Symposium - An Invitation to High School Students to hear about the works and Laureates of prestigious awards of 2006. Tuesday, December 19, 2006.

What is it all about?

Each year, professional organizations of various disciplines recognize the high-achievers and those who have contributed significantly to an academic discipline and/or to improve the living conditions on this planet. Noteworthy among them are a) Nobel-prize (http://www.nobel.se) annually awarded to achievements in Chemistry, Economics, Literature, Medicine, Peace and Physics. Recently, a prestigious Abel Prize for Mathematics (http://www.abelprisen.no/en/) was established. These prizes are awarded to living humans and no posthumous awards are made.

The celebrations of awards makes one realize the following:

  • All academic fields of activity are well and alive
  • Each field of endeavor offers its own rewards
  • Highly motivated individuals pursue them
  • It is a life-long passion for everyone of them

The Knowledge and Education Exchange Network (KEEN) has been organizing the Nobel symposia since 2002. They are addressed to high school students. Each year, we bring in experts in each field, who will describe the prestigious prize winning work of that year, from languages to sciences and peace.

This is an open invitation to all high school students in the Province to come and enjoy the symposium talks. You might find who won a prestigious prize in the subject of your interest. You might realize other subjects are equally rewarding. If you are not sure which subjects interest you or what lies ahead in those fields, this is also an opportunity to talk to experts in the field.

The admission only by prior registration. As the seating is limited, the first 150 applications will be accepted on a first-come first-in basis.

After you register, you will receive an e-mail of acknowledgement. If you do not hear from us within 3-working days, please contact us at chary@sask.usask.ca

See you on December 19, 2006.
