Government Interviews
The following information has been prepared by Ashley Smith, LL.B. 2007. Ms. Smith will be Clerking with the Court of Queen's Bench in Saskatoon.
These interviews are typically done by a panel of four to five interviewers. They require you to illustrate who you are, as well as a strong knowledge of the government and its programs. You will be asked to answer how you would handle hypothetical situations given to you during the interview. Some Government interviews require you to complete a written component on the day of your interview that you will not be able to prepare for in advance. Criminal record checks and some extra information may be needed for these interviews.
How to Prepare:
- Allow yourself enough time to get the extra information needed for these types of interviews. Do not leave your application to the last minute. Government deadlines may be different from firm deadlines!!
- Read about the articling program you are applying for and learn about the divisions, departments, & opportunities available. READ THE WEBSITES!! This knowledge is mandatory for a successful interview.
- Be comfortable with answering hypothetical scenarios on the spot.
