Computer Systems and Printing
The University of Saskatchewan provides complete computer and printing access to all undergraduate and graduate students. Details are available at the U of S Student Computing site. Further information on computer services for U of S students can be found in the Student Computing Guide
A note to students about Laptops: As a U of S law student, you are strongly encouraged to purchase a laptop computer. The majority of your classmates use laptop computers for taking notes in class, as well as for legal research using electronic services and for completing assignments. The information we provide to student loan programs and use to design our own bursary assistance calculations assumes students will own computer equipment during their studies. If you choose not to own computer equipment, that is your choice, but you will put yourself at a disadvantage relative to your colleagues.
E-mail Accounts: Students will have access to a U of S e-mail address. The address will be composed of your nsid@mail.usask.ca (ie:abc123@mail.usask.ca). Any information e-mailed to you from the College will be sent to this address. You are responsible for checking this address and you will be responsible for any failure to do so. To personalize your e-mail address, or arrange to forward your messages to another account, use the services of MITS.
Student Computer Labs: The College of Law Student Lounge is home to our Express Computer Centre, housing 3 computer terminals and one docking station with printer access and 1 wheelchair accessible station for our students' use. Students who wish to use this facility will need to have a suitably equipped laptop. Additionally, there are several computer labs available for student use on campus, located in Arts 41, 140 and 110 (ITS lab). As well, students have access to any of the computers situated in the Arts Tunnel.
The Law Library participates in a small-scale laptop lending program but you should not depend on this on a regular basis.
Student Printing: The Law Library and the Express Computer Centre in the College of Law Student Lounge are both equipped with printers and instructions for use. Printing is also available in the student computer labs on campus. All printing costs 10 cents per page. Pages can be purchased from the SIT terminals, using cash or credit cards.
