Welcome
A Learning Commons is a place for learning, research, intellectual discussion, technology and access to academic resources and support. Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to make use of these spaces to work, study, collaborate and learn. Learning Commons locations can be found within each of the libraries at the U of S.
Services in Learning Commons Locations
- University Library services, including research help, library instruction classes, interlibrary loans and checkout
- Workstations with productivity, multimedia, statistical, assistive technology, and other software packages
- Online Writing, Math, and IT4U Technology support services
- Laptop Lending and after-hours access to computers
- IT Support / Student Computing Guide
- Printing, Printing Tips and Tech Tips for Printing
- Help Desk locations
- Scanners - available at each LC location; in Murrary, 3 scanners located on 1st floor, near Help Desk.
The Learning Commons at Murray
The Learning Commons at Murray is a social learning space for group and individual study. The Learning Commons provides access to learning resources, technological and academic help, as well as a Starbucks Cafe. The Learning Commons also provides:
- Group Study Rooms bookable by students
- University Learning Centre services, including Writing Help, Math Help, and Study Skills workshops
- IT4U services, including free Computer Training and drop-in support for students
- Lynda.com kiosks to access training videos on how to use a range of different software tools
- Assistive Technology Room for students with disabilities
- Starbucks Café (Hours)
- Safe Study (late night) during fall/winter session
