HOWTO: Manually Add a Learning Commons Printer. (Mac OS 10.4)

1. Add a new printer by pressing the + button:
   
   
   
   
   
2. While holding down the ALT/Options key, press the More Printers button:
   
   
   
   
   
3. Press the up/down arrow to the right of AppleTalk:
   
   
   
   
   
4. From the list of choices, select Advanced:
   
   
   
   
   
5. Press the up/down arrow to the right of Device:
   
   
   
   
   
6. From the list of choices, select Windows Printer via SAMBA:
   
   
   
   
   
7. Type a name for the printer so you can easily identify it later:
   
   
   
   
   
8. In the Device URI box, type:
   
   smb://your_nsid:your_nsid_password@printspool.usask.ca/name_of_printspool_printer
   
   
   
   Please remember to substitute your own NSID username and password and the name of the printer for the values above.
   

   Below are the printers for the various Learning Commons location which are substituted for name_of_printspool_printer:

   • Main Branch: mainlcbw1, mainlcbw2, mn136color1
   • Natural Sciences Branch: ns180bw1
   • Health Sciences Branch: hsb205bw1, hsb205color1
   • Veterinary Medicine Branch: vt3110bw1
   • Engineering Branch: enginlcbw1
   • Education Branch: ed2003bw2
   
   
9. Select the appropriate driver from the Printer Model pop-up menu.

   If you cannot find the printer model above in the list of printer models you will want to download drivers for the printer from the following locations:

   HP (Hewlett Packard)

   Lexmark
