I was recently given a bottle of Ilford Universal developer, and thinking
it might be the same as Ilford PQ Universal, I took Terry's advice and
developed some lith film with it (1:9 dilution). Unfortunately, it made my
lith film look like lith film. I contacted Ilford to see if they market a
US equivalent of PQ Universal. Below is their response. Apparently,
Multigrade developer is the closest to PQ. I hope to give it a try within
the next week. Has anyone used Ilford Multigrade to develop lith film?

The U.S. equivalent of that product is MULTIGRADE developer, not
UNIVERSAL. PQ can not be purchased in the U.S.
