I consulted a fellow more knowledgeable than myself, and here are some
" ... it *could* be a SCSI ID conflict ... it's likely ...
home PC's that are full of hardware ... that use up all the
available interrupts. (On PC's interrupts are a critical,
limited resource needed by add-on boards to communicate effectively
with the processor.) ... when you are out (of interrupts)
it is difficult or impossible to expand the system ... particularly
adding a SCSI board so you can hook up a scanner.
...[the PC] is not actually expandable even though it says
in the specs that it comes with so many slots. The connectors
are there ... but you can't use them without taking
out something else first ...
The current Photosmart install disks have
a driver on them that uses no interrupts ... download the latest
drivers from HP's web site, uninstall both (old ones), hook up only the
5p, install it, then install the Photosmart. "
Hope this helps, it's a little out of my world, being a Mac driver ;}
