I really do like the sounds of what Cynthia Davis is doing with the
handmade paper and polaroid transfers and hope she keeps us posted.
Another idea sprung to mind the other day after reading that some list
members are working with the ALPS printers. I read (???) that with the
ALPs machines you can rum a *Gold Colored Ink* that will print on black
stock. Well, my idea (for a while) has been to get some die cut 4x5"
folders made for medium format trannies with the gold foil imprinting.
Will this printer do a similer job (quality) on black card stock? If
so, I thought it could be really interesing to get 8.5"x11" sheets
pre-perforated (like the Avery business cards) so you could run them
through the printer.
At the end of the day (maybe) we would end up with individual Trannie
mounts (2 up to an 8.5"x11" sheet) *each personalized to the image*!
The only problem I see is finding someone who can perforate each sheet
at a reasonable cost (anyone work for Avery?). If push came to shove we
could just cut the things out on a Rotatrim (Knife for the window) maybe
get some kind of hand-die made for the window.....idunno, any thoughts!
What is the quality of the ALPS printer (Sil???), is it as good as the
Epson? Would dual useage (above) make it a better buy? If this printer
performs as well with Digital Negatives, Exotic Papers and Straight
Prints as Epson the *Gold Ink* could be a real selling point.... for me
anyways!! Comments please!
