Holistic Health Research announces 2011 research competitions in massage therapy
The Holistic Health Research Foundation of Canada (www.HolisticHealthResearch.ca) is pleased to announce its 2011 open research competitions in massage therapy.
Through its Massage Therapy Research Fund (MTRF), Holistic Health Research invites applications in:
- clinical research (primary focus)
- mechanisms of action, policy issues and research capacity (secondary focus)
For 2011, there will be TWO funding competitions, the first with an application deadline of April 29, 2011 and the second with a September 30, 2011 application deadline.
For EACH competition cycle in 2011, a total funding amount of $50,000 is offered. Grant applications up to $15,000 will be considered.
Pilot studies are needed that provide foundational data on conditions and populations where massage therapy is efficacious and that indicate direction for larger research projects. Studies may be qualitative, quantitative, or mixed method.
The principal investigator must be affiliated with a Canadian charitable institution with acknowledged research capacity and that is willing to administer the finances of the grant. This includes universities, research hospitals, institutions listed with CIHR and publicly funded community colleges. Funds are awarded to the charitable institution, not to an individual. The research team may include members affiliated with a non-Canadian institution. One member of the research team should be a massage therapist. Students at the masters level and above are encouraged to apply.
The MTRF encourages applications that also seek funding from other sources.
Deadline to receive submissions is Friday, April 29, 2011 at 5 p.m. ET. Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by July 3, 2011.
Deadline for the second 2011 competition cycle is September 30, 2011 at 5 p.m. ET. Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by November 30, 2011.
Application forms and instructions can be downloaded at www.massagetherapyresearch.ca or www.holistichealthresearch.ca.
